The Water on Mars illustration was used as the cover of the November 1996 issue of Scientific American. It was one of the magazines first covers created in a 3D program, in this case, an early version of the Bryce program. The sky and moons were done in Photoshop, as well as a good number of small modifications.
Another illustration, first published Scientific American, was picked up by the European magazine Focus. It was also created with Bryce and Photoshop.
